SCRIPTURE READING: ACTS 12: 1-23

FOCUS: “And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.” (Acts 12: 4)

MEMORY VERSE: “To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.” (Isaiah 61: 3)

According to our Focal Scripture, Herod had planned to bring Peter out for execution after Easter. Easter has always been a commemoration of the death and resurrection of Jesus. Easter is symbolic of celebration. So Herod wanted to plan negativity for Peter after a period of celebration. He wanted celebration to be followed with negativity. He wanted evil to come on the heels of celebration. He wanted to back up good with evil.

Friend, hear me as I hear the Lord: every plan of the enemy to bring evil on the heels of good, I command it to scatter now. Every plan of the enemy to introduce negativity in your time of celebration, I command it to scatter now. Every plan of the enemy to mar your good news with bad news, I reject it on your behalf. Every plan of the enemy to make you cry bitter tears after any good news has arrived, I command it to scatter now.

Herod was intentional to choose a time of celebration to execute the wickedness he plotted for Peter. He chose a time when everyone should be happy, but his plan was to make them weep again and again. I pray for you: every plan of the enemy to make you weep at the time of your celebration, let the fire of God answer for you. Every plan of the enemy to exchange your good news with bad news, let fire answer.

You will not move from celebration to negativity. You will not move from good news to bad news. You will not move from progress to retrogression. You will not move from promotion to demotion. You will not move from rising to falling. You will not move from increase to reduction. You will not move from wealth to poverty. You will not move from being outstanding to being in obscurity. Your celebration will not turn to tragedy.

The gates of hell will not prevail over your destiny. You will not have your celebration turn to mourning.
