SCRIPTURE READING: MATTHEW 20: 1-16
FOCUS: “And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle?” (Matthew 20: 6)
MEMORY VERSE: “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” (Galatians 6: 9)
Our Focal Scripture speaks of that moment when the householder went forth about the eleventh hour and still found some men standing idle in the marketplace. It was one hour to the end of the working day, but these men were still standing, waiting to be hired. The day was nearly over, it would have been okay to walk away, but these men did not walk away. They were not hired on time but they did not give up. They didn’t walk away.
Friend, glean some wisdom from these eleventh-hour men: don’t walk away even if you are yet to be hired. Don’t walk away even if you are yet to receive your miracle. Don’t walk away even if your expectations are yet to be fulfilled. Don’t walk away even if you are lagging behind your contemporaries in destiny. Don’t walk away even if you are yet to receive the reward of your commitment in the marketplace. Refuse to walk away.
Amongst the labourers that were hired by the householder, were men who were hired early in the morning, men who were hired in the third hour, men who were hired in the sixth hour, men who were hired in the ninth hour and men hired in the eleventh hour. Everyone did not get the attention of the householder at the same time. The reality is that God will attend to some people earlier than others, and it is no excuse to walk away.
If the men who were eventually hired at the eleventh hour walked away because they thought it was too late to be hired, they would have missed an opportunity that came at an odd hour. Sometimes, heaven may schedule your miracle at odd hours, and you better not be found to have walked away when the angels with your answers arrive. If you walk away, how will you receive all that heaven destined for you?
No matter how the enemy pressures you to give up on God, don’t give up, don’t lose your faith, don’t walk away, and you will witness a fulfillment of your expectations.
