SCRIPTURE READING: 1 SAMUEL 30: 1-20
FOCUS: “So David and his men came to the city, and, behold, it was burned with fire; and their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, were taken captives.” (1 Samuel 30: 3)
MEMORY VERSE: “Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.” (Ephesians 5: 14)
It is important to note that David had been anointed as king of Israel prior to the attack against Ziklag, but he was yet to become king. After the attack on Ziklag, David sought the face of God on the way forward, and the Lord directed him to go to Hebron where he was anointed king (see 2 Samuel 2). David may have felt safe in Ziklag, but the moment it was burnt, the conversation for his kingship began. He lost Ziklag, and gained kingship.
Friend, you might need to pray to God that your ‘Ziklag’ be burnt. There are levels you need to lose so that you can gain the portion that heaven has destined for you. There are comfort zones you may need to lose so that you can finally embrace the fullness of your destiny. There are destiny locations you need to exit from so that the conversations for your rising can begin. You may need to leave your ‘Ziklag’ so that you can become king.
While in Ziklag, David was safe from Saul, but he was also in affinity with the Philistines. There was no conversation about his kingship. There was no implementation of heaven’s agenda. He was safe no doubt, but his destiny was stagnated until Ziklag was burnt. You may need to be grateful to those who burnt your Ziklag. You may need to be grateful to those who took your good so you can get the very best.
Review your destiny location right away. Are you still in your ‘Ziklag’? Are you still lounging in your comfort zone, safe from harm but disconnected from heaven’s agenda? Are you in that place where everyone celebrates your greatness, yet you are disconnected from the high places that heaven has destined you to attain? If it keeps you safe, but excludes you from the greatness that heaven designed for you, then it is time to rise and leave.
Don’t wait until your ‘Ziklag’ is burnt before you remember that you were anointed to sit on the throne. Break away from your comfort zone and dare to become all that God ordained for you to become.
