SCRIPTURE READING: 1 SAMUEL 30: 1-20

FOCUS: “And David said to Abiathar the priest, Ahimelech’s son, I pray thee, bring me hither the ephod. And Abiathar brought thither the ephod to David.” (1 Samuel 30: 7)

MEMORY VERSE: “And the sons of strangers shall build up thy walls, and their kings shall minister unto thee: for in my wrath I smote thee, but in my favour have I had mercy on thee.” (Isaiah 60: 10)

Our Focal Scripture speaks of that moment when David asked Abiathar to bring the ephod. Abiathar was a priest. In bible times, priests served as mediators between God and man. They brought the word of the Lord to men, and they took the supplications of men to God. If God were to get angry, He could kill the priest. So the priest faced the danger of being killed by God. They took danger on behalf of other men, while the men lived in safety.

Friend, one set of men that God is about to send to you are those men who will take ‘bullets’ on your behalf so that you can dwell in safety. God will send you men who will take the pains that should have come to you. God is about to send you men who will shield you from the danger that should have come your way. God will send you men who will stand between you and every wrong judgement that is about to come your way.

In the days of Moses and Aaron, there were times when God would decide to wipe away the children of Israel, but Moses and Aaron would stand in the gap and God would hold his peace. At some point when there was a plague, Aaron stood between the living and the dead (see Numbers 16 vs. 48), and the plague ceased. May God send you men who will stand in the place of your danger and shield you from every negativity that is fired at you.

People could not approach God directly in bible times, but priests approached God on their behalf. Priests did for people what they could not do for themselves and by themselves. I pray for you: may God send you men who will deal with your dangers and difficulties. May God send you men who will surmount on your behalf what you cannot surmount on your own. May God send you men who will do for you what you cannot do for yourself.

Welcome to that season where heaven will raise men for you that will show you the way out. Welcome to that season where heaven will send you men who will divert every danger and difficulty away from you.
