SCRIPTURE READING: MATTHEW 2: 1-18

FOCUS: “Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,” (Matthew 2: 1)

MEMORY VERSE: “For by thee I have run through a troop; and by my God have I leaped over a wall.” (Psalm 18: 29)

Our Focal Scripture speaks of how Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judah, in the days of Herod the King. Herod was a wicked king that ruled over Israel. Herod belonged to a wicked dynasty. His reign was a reign of terror, but it didn’t stop the birth of Jesus. His reign was the beginning of bitter tears for some families, but it didn’t stop the emergence of Jesus. His reign was not the right time for anyone to emerge, but Jesus emerged.

Friend, hear me as I hear the Lord: no matter the Herod’s that sit on the throne, you will emerge. No matter the Herod’s that hold sway in the market place, you will still break forth on all sides. No matter the Herod’s that want to stand in the way of your rising, you will still rise and rise and rise. No matter the Herod’s that say no one will emerge under their watch, you will still emerge. No Herod will stop you from emerging.

Herod was still presiding over the affairs of the kingdom of Israel; he was in charge; he was the wrong man on the throne; he was the wrong option for anyone desiring to rise, but under his reign, Jesus came forth. Hear me as I hear the Lord: even if the Herod’s of this world are sitting on the throne of the kingdom where you live, as surely as the Lord lives, you will rise. The wrong men on the thrones of nations will not stop you.

Even if there is a Herod currently reigning in your space, you will still rise, you will still move forward; you will still make the difference you seek to make; you will still hit those important milestones you wish to hit; you will still become all that God destined you to become; you will still rise higher; you will still accomplish all that heaven destined you to accomplish; you will still make your mark in the race of destiny. You will still rise.

Welcome to that season where the reign of Herod’s will not stop you from emerging. Welcome to that season where no evil on the throne will stop your rising.
