SCRIPTURE READING: 1 SAMUEL 30: 1-20

FOCUS: “And it came to pass, when David and his men were come to Ziklag on the third day, that the Amalekites had invaded the south, and Ziklag, and smitten Ziklag, and burned it with fire;”(1 Samuel 30: 1)

MEMORY VERSE: “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” (Ephesians 6: 12)

Our Focal Scripture makes mention of how the Amalekites invaded Ziklag, took away the wives and children of David and his men, and burnt the city. Amalekites are descendants of Amalek, the grandson of Esau. Esau and Jacob (Israel) were both sons of Isaac. So, David was faced with a battle that came from familiar terrain. It seemed like a battle that came from within the Isaac family. It was a familiar battle.

Friend, in this season, be careful with battles that come from familiar quarters. Be careful with things that are familiar but want to work against you. Be careful with familiar faces that want to undermine you. Be careful with familiar terrains that want to make a mess of your destiny. Be careful with the things you have become used to, that the enemy wants to bring you down. Be careful with battles that come from familiar places.

Esau and Jacob were brothers, yet the direct descendants of Esau came against David and his men who were descendants of Jacob. This was something in the frame of household battles. Hear me as I hear the Lord: every battle arising from close quarters, I command it to scatter by fire. I command every wickedness from familiar quarters to scatter. Anyone who is using their proximity to you to cause you evil, let fire answer.

I pray for you: let every familiar battle around you drop off by fire. Let every familiar challenge around you drop off by fire. Let every familiar sickness fall off by fire. Let every familiar affliction fall off by fire. Let every arrow the enemy fired at you fall off. Let every negative burden on your shoulders fall off. Let everything around  you that is abominable, fall off. Let the Lord arise and contend with every familiar force that is contending with you.

This is that season where no familiar challenge is permitted to hold sway in your life. As surely as the Lord lives, every familiar challenge is broken by fire.
