YOU’RE NOT LIKE THEM

SCRIPTURE READING: 1 KINGS 19: 1-8, 18

FOCUS: “Then Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah, saying, So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them by to morrow about this time.” (1 Kings 19: 2)

MEMORY VERSE: “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” (Galatians 2: 20)

In our Focal Scripture, Jezebel sent a messenger to tell Elijah expressly that she would make his life like the life of one of the prophets of Baal whom he had slain at Mount Carmel. Jezebel threatened to make the life of Elijah as the life of a prophet of Baal. Elijah was a prophet of God, but Jezebel wanted to make his life to look like that of a prophet of Baal who had been slain. Jezebel intended to make Elijah’s reality to contradict his calling.

The spirit of Jezebel is that spirit that wants to make your life to look like the lives of those who are not serving God. The spirit of Jezebel is that spirit that wants your life to to look like a mockery of the God you serve. The spirit of Jezebel is that spirit that wants you to have realities that contradict your covenant with God. The spirit of Jezebel is that spirit that wants your life to be reduced like the lives of those who do not fear God.

Friend, hear me as I hear the Lord: every Jezebel that says your life will look like the lives of those who do not fear God, I decree, let the fire of God answer on your behalf. Every Jezebel that wants to make your life like the life of one who is disconnected from God, I decree, they will not prevail. Your life will not be decimated like the lives of those who have no covenant with God. Your life will not be reduced like the lives of God haters.

Jezebel’s intention was for Elijah to suffer the same fate as those prophets of Baal. She wanted Elijah’s experience to be same as the experiences of the prophets of Baal. Hear me as I hear the Lord: your case is different. Your life will not be like the lives of the prophets of Baal. You will not experience the same afflictions as those who do not know God. You will not look abandoned, reduced, decimated, forsaken, etc. like those who don’t fear God.

Jesus did not redeem you so that your life can be like the lives of those who are not redeemed. Jesus redeemed you so that you can move from darkness to light.
