SCRIPTURE READING: 1 SAMUEL 30: 1-20

FOCUS: “And David smote them from the twilight even unto the evening of the next day: and there escaped not a man of them, save four hundred young men, which rode upon camels, and fled.” (1 Samuel 30: 17)

MEMORY VERSE: “For thou hast girded me with strength unto the battle: thou hast subdued under me those that rose up against me.” (Psalm 18: 39)

Our Focal Scripture speaks of how David smote the Amalekites. This was not a regular fight where there was a tussle. This was David smiting his enemies. He pounced on the same men who took away his wives and children. He descended mercilessly on those who afflicted his family and that of his men. This was not a battle for David to go back and forth with his adversaries. This was a battle where he had an upper hand from the beginning.

Friend, hear me as I hear the Lord: you will have an upper hand against your adversaries. You will have an upper hand against every opposition that has arisen against you. You will have an upper hand against the traps the enemy set for you. You will have an upper hand against those who conspired against you. You will have an upper hand against those who worked against you in time past. You will have an upper hand in victory.

You may have fought before, but this time, you will simply diminish the enemies that have arisen against you. You may have had a tussle before, but this time, you will prevail over everything that has arisen against you. You will subdue every satanic uprising against you. You will crush every leviathan under your feet. You will tread upon snakes and scorpions and every power of the enemy, and none shall by any means harm you.

Notice that as David crushed them, about four hundred of the Amalekites ran for their dear lives. They came against David, but they ended up running away because the battle was too hot for them to handle. Hear me as I hear the Lord: those that have gathered against you will end up running for their own lives. You will be too hot for them to handle. You will have too much of an advantage for them to have a chance against you.

Welcome to that season where you will have an upper hand over every battle the enemy raises against you. Welcome to that season where you will crush every opposition under your feet.
