WALK AWAY

SCRIPTURE READING: JOHN 5: 1-14

FOCUS: “Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.”(John 5: 8)

MEMORY VERSE: “He maketh my feet like hinds’ feet, and setteth me upon my high places.” (Psalm 18: 33)

In our Focal Scripture, apart from instructing the man at the pool of Bethesda to rise and take up his bed, Jesus also instructed him to walk. This man had been in Bethesda for several years, on account of his condition; he had been in the midst of those who were equally afflicted by sicknesses; he had been in an unhealthy circle and in an unhealthy environment on account of his condition; and Jesus ordered him to walk away.

Friend, rise and walk away from where negativity kept you. Walk away from the dysfunctional relationships that are no longer fit for your new season. Walk away from environments that do not align with what God is doing in your life. Walk away from the places or people who are contrary to the destiny mandate on your life. Walk away from the places that God delivered you from. Walk away from every Bethesda you have outgrown.

Jesus healed that man at Bethesda, and one of the things he was instructed to do, was to walk. He was instructed to move. As God brings changes into your life, ensure that you are moving. Ensure that your prayer life is moving. Ensure that your assignment is moving. Ensure that your greatness is moving. Ensure that your family is moving. Ensure that whatever God committed into your hands, is moving. Never stay where help met you. Move.

If that man received his healing and remained in Bethesda, he would be in his new season, yet retaining the environment of the old. It is antithetical to your destiny upgrade if God would cause you to rise, yet you remain unusually attached to the environment of your past. It is out of place to be divinely repositioned, yet wearing the garment of your old season. God did not heal you so that you can remain in the same place you began.

Rise, walk away from the mistakes of the past. Walk away from the environment that once validated negativity in your life. Walk away from the place of your struggles. Arise, and walk away.
