TAKE RESPONSIBILITY

SCRIPTURE READING: JOHN 5: 1-14

FOCUS: “Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.”(John 5: 8)

MEMORY VERSE: “Strengthen ye the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees.” (Isaiah 35: 3)

In our Focal Scripture, Jesus told the man at the pool of Bethesda to take up his bed. That man had probably been on his bed for so long. He had been carried by his bed for the period of his infirmity; but when Jesus showed up, He commanded that the man should carry the same bed that once carried him. Jesus commanded that the man should take responsibility for carrying his bed. Jesus ordered that man to take responsibility.

Friend, in this season, be deliberate and intentional to take responsibility. Take responsibility for the spiritual atmosphere around you. Take responsibility for the people you ought to be responsible for. Take responsibility for the progress of your destiny mandate. Take responsibility for the results you need to make happen. Take responsibility for the targets you need to hit. Take responsibility for your errors.

That man had been in a position where his bed was responsible for carrying him, but Jesus changed the protocol and ordered him to carry his bed. Jesus empowered him to do what his bed had been doing for him all along. There comes a time when your bed must stop carrying you. There comes a time when your progress must reflect in your ability to take responsibility. There comes a time when you must take charge.

It may have been okay for that man to be carried by his bed, while stuck in Bethesda; but in the new season that Jesus brought, he was going to take responsibility for the bed. You may have been forgiven for not being responsible enough in time past, but this is that season where you must intentionally take responsibility. Be responsible in your assignment. Be responsible in your home. Be responsible in all that God put in your hands.

May you never be counted amongst those who are irresponsible in their destiny journey. May it never be said that God raised you, yet you remained stuck in the irresponsibility of your past years. Always remind yourself that you are responsible, and must take responsibility.
