SCRIPTURE READING: MATTHEW 28: 1-15
FOCUS: “And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.” (Matthew 28: 2)
MEMORY VERSE: “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” (Luke 10: 19)
In our Focal Scripture, after the Angel of the Lord rolled away the stone that was positioned on the door of the sepulcher, he proceeded to sit on it. That stone was put in place by people who thought they could arrange physically to stop the resurrection of Jesus. The stone was put in place by those who felt they could use their power to stop what God was about to do. The Angel showed up, rolled it away, and sat on it. He sat on the opposition.
Friend, hear me as I hear the Lord: every stone of opposition that the enemies have planted against you, receive the wisdom and capacity to sit on it. You will sit on the arrangements of hell made against you. You will sit on the wickedness of the wicked. You will sit on the conspiracies that have been hatched against you. You will sit on the roadblocks that men set for you. You will sit on every stone that was set as an opposition against you.
Pilate and company arranged to have a stone set at the door of the sepulcher; but when the Angel of the Lord arrived, he not only took away the stone; he also sat on it. He took the posture of dominion over the stone. Take a posture of dominion over every stone that has been set against you. Take a posture of dominion over the conspiracies against you. Take a posture of dominion over every arrow from the pit of hell fired against you.
The Angel of the Lord seemed to be announcing a pattern heralded by Jesus’ resurrection. The Angel seemed to be announcing that stones that once stood in the way, must be sat on. Whatever you have battled with in time past, it is now time to sit on it. Sit on every negative medical report. Sit on every wicked policy positioned to stall your rising. Sit on every work of darkness that wants to swallow your destiny.
The new life in Christ is a life of dominion. Rise to the occasion, roll away the stones, and dare to sit on them.
