SCRIPTURE READING: MATTHEW 9: 20-22

FOCUS: “But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.” (Matthew 9: 22)

MEMORY VERSE: “Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward.” (Hebrews 10: 35)

In our Focal Scripture, having seen the woman who had been healed from the issue of blood, Jesus said to her, “Be of good comfort”. The word ‘comfort’ as used in that scripture, comes from the Greek word ‘tharseo’, which is interpreted to mean ‘to have courage’. So, Jesus was simply telling that woman to have courage. She may have suffered deeply on account of her issue of blood, and one of the things she needed to wear, was courage.

Friend, no matter what you have been through or are going through, remain courageous. Be courageous in spite of whatever battles that have come your way. Be courageous in spite of whatever conspiracies that are against you. Be courageous in the face of the roadblocks the enemy laid on your path. Be courageous no matter the circumstances that are not in your favour at the moment. Be courageous even if not sure of tomorrow.

The woman with the issue of blood had a multitude to contend with, whilst trying to touch the garment of Jesus. Everything was not aligned in her interest; everything was not as easy as she would have wanted; but when she received her miracle, Jesus instructed her to be courageous. You may never break out of your current boundaries if you are not courageous. You may never hit new milestones if you are not courageous.

One strategy of the enemy is to weaken your courage and confidence. When you lose courage and confidence, you may not be able to believe even what God has said. If you fail to be courageous, you may be too afraid to even take the steps that will birth your miracles. If you fail to be courageous, you just might be making room for stagnation and possibly, retrogression. If the enemy robs you of courage, he will confine you to a spot.

Face your fears with every courage you can muster. Face your battles with courage. Be courageous even when everything does not add up. Don’t allow the enemy make you lose your courage.
