BREAK OUT

SCRIPTURE READING: JOHN 5: 1-9

FOCUS: “In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.” (John 5: 3)

MEMORY VERSE: “The breaker is come up before them: they have broken up, and have passed through the gate, and are gone out by it: and their king shall pass before them, and the LORD on the head of them.” (Micah 2: 13)

Our Focal Scripture makes mention of the multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt and withered, all gathered at the pool of Bethesda. So, the man at the pool was not alone; he was in the midst of people who were like him. He was in the midst of people who were not better than him. He was in the midst of people who had the same sort of challenge he had. He was in a company of helpless men. He was in a defective company.

Friend, be careful about the company you surround yourself with. Be careful about those you stay within their atmosphere. Be careful with those whose situations are an excuse for yours. Be careful with those whose lives seem to predict yours, negatively. Be careful with the relationships that take center stage in your life. Be careful with those who give you reasons not to bother with improvements. Be careful with your circle.

For the man in Bethesda, even if he was not healed, he had people like him who were also not healed. Even if he was not healed, he had people like him who could serve as consolation. It was a company where what was not okay, could easily be tolerated. Be intentional to sever your ties with companies that tolerate negativity. Be intentional to cut off those who encourage you to remain in the same state from year to year.

Break out of every dysfunctional company you have found yourself in. Break out of every cycle that reinforces negativity. Break out of every cycle that keeps you in the same situation year after year. Break out of relationships that encourage your bad behavior. Break out of the midst of those who see nothing wrong in your wrong. Break out of the siege of negative relationships. Walk away from that environment that says yes to evil.

If it does not look like where you should be, break out. If it encourages your affliction but does not make your deliverance an emergency, walk away.

  • If it is not of God, and if it is not a prophetic company, I walk away, in Jesus’ name!
