SCRIPTURE READING: JOHN 5: 1-9
FOCUS: “After this there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.” (John 5: 1)
MEMORY VERSE: “To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.” (Isaiah 61: 3)
Our Focal Scripture makes mention of how there was a feast of the Jews. At this time when there was a feast of the Jews, there was a man at the pool of Bethesda, waiting endlessly for healing to come his way. Others were celebrating, but this man was in pain, alongside others. Others were in joyous mood, but this man was in pensive mode. Others had it all going for them, but for this man, nothing good was going on.
Friend, hear me as I hear the Lord: you will not mourn as others celebrate. You will not weep as others shed tears of joy. You will not be in pain while others are in joyous mood. You will not be rejected when others have been accepted. You will not be in oblivion when others are in the spotlight. You will not be counted amongst them that were stagnated when others are advancing. You will not be left out of good news.
I pray for you: you will not be on the painful side of events. You will not be a negative example in the midst of positive events. You will not be counted as that one who was left behind in destiny. You will not be counted amongst those who had nothing going on for them when others had good stuff coming their way. You will not be that one whose story is laced with disappointment and disillusionment. You will not be left behind in destiny.
Jesus turned up at Bethesda, and He went straight for this particular man who was left behind. I pray for you: when the tales of life are told, may it be said that God came through for you in areas where you were left behind. May it be said that you were not mocked and abandoned in destiny. May it be said that the God you serve did not leave or forsake you. May it be said that your case was addressed by God Himself.
Welcome to that season where you will never be left behind in destiny. Welcome to that season where you will no longer mourn as others celebrate.
