SCRIPTURE READING: EXODUS 1: 15-21
FOCUS: “But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the men children alive.” (Exodus 1: 17)
MEMORY VERSE: “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.” (Revelations 4: 11)
In our Focal Scripture, the Hebrew midwives refused to do the bidding of Pharaoh because they feared the Lord. They refused to let Pharaoh use their skills to perpetrate evil. They chose to please God with their skills. They chose to do God’s bidding with their skills. They chose to take sides with God using their skills. They chose to allow heaven benefit from their skills. Whilst blocking Pharaoh’s will, they advanced God’s will with their skills.
Friend, what has God benefited from your skills? What is heaven’s benefit from the abilities and capacities that you have within you? What benefit has heaven recorded as a result of your strategic positioning in the marketplace? What has heaven gained since you gained higher grounds? In what way is heaven benefiting from your beauty, knowledge, contacts, positions, greatness, wealth, growth, access, relevance, etc.?
The Hebrew midwives did not only refuse to do the bidding of Pharaoh; they took sides with heaven to achieve heaven’s goal of preserving God’s people. Be intentional to serve heaven’s purpose. Let the opportunities that come your way make a difference in heaven’s goals. Let the doors and gates that open to you, yield results for God. Let the help of God that comes your way open the doors of help to others.
You were created for God’s pleasure. You were made to worship Jesus. You were made for the glory of God. You were made to serve heaven’s agenda. You were made to prioritize heaven’s goal above your own goal. You are God’s messenger in your duty post, and heaven expects you to add to the goals that heaven set out to achieve. Be intentional to use every platform, opportunity, resource, access, etc. for heaven’s gain.
Don’t be counted amongst them who achieved personal goals but achieved nothing for heaven. Switch up your efforts, and use what you have to achieve heaven’s goals.
