SCRIPTURE READING: EXODUS 1: 15-21
FOCUS: “And he said, When ye do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them upon the stools; if it be a son, then ye shall kill him: but if it be a daughter, then she shall live.” (Exodus 1: 16)
MEMORY VERSE: “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” (Luke 10: 19)
In our Focal Scripture, Pharaoh entreated the Hebrew midwives to use their office as midwives to kill the male children of the Hebrew women. Hebrew women occupied the office of midwives in Egypt; they had a covenant with God, and they occupied offices; the king wanted them to use their office to do evil against the male children of Israel. They had capacity to occupy a sensitive office, but they refused to do evil in their office.
Friend, can God trust you to be a ‘midwife’ that will not use your office to perpetuate evil and negativity? Can God trust you to be an officer under whose watch there will be no evil? Can God trust you to resist the urge to do what will damage the people and the nation? Can God trust you to be that one who will not allow negativity to be normalized in the marketplace? Can you be that midwife that says no to evil no matter the king involved?
These Hebrew midwives were part of a health system. They were embedded in a system, and they refused to have the system turned against the people. They refused to allow the system to work negativity. If God has placed you in a place of influence, then shut the door of negativity; shut the door of wickedness; shut the door of mediocrity; shut the door of incompetence; man the gates of human systems, and enforce kingdom rules.
The oil on your head is not just for show. Be skillful, but yet powerful. Be dutiful and diligent, but yet consecrated. Be the example of the kingdom in the marketplace. Create a mix of excellence and kingdom power in your sphere of influence. Create a mix of greatness and kingdom flavour in your space. Let it be said that you took over the marketplace for God. Let it be said that you caused kingdom to manifest in your space.
You have a mandate to bring kingdom dominion into your space. If God be for you, then show it in your marketplace influence. Take over the systems of this world and enforce kingdom governance therein.
