SCRIPTURE READING: 2 KINGS 11: 1-17
FOCUS: “And when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the seed royal.” (2 Kings 11: 1)
MEMORY VERSE: “Deliver me from mine enemies, O my God: defend me from them that rise up against me.” (Psalm 59: 1)
When Athaliah saw that her son was dead, she killed the entire royal heirs. She slew everyone who was in line to become king. She wiped off everyone who had capacity to take the throne. Whatever Athaliah’s motives were, no one knew; so, people who didn’t know what her issues were, were murdered for what was not clear to them. People died for what they did not know about. People were killed for what they had no idea about.
Friend, hear me as I hear the Lord: you will not die for what you know nothing about. You will not be a victim of battles that do not concern you. You will not be swallowed in contentions you did not orchestrate. You will not be cut short on account of battles you did not generate. You will not fall to the wickedness of the Athaliah’s of this world. You will not be taken out in any collective tragedy. You will not die another man’s death.
Athaliah only saw that her son was dead, and she decided to wipe out everyone who was an heir to the throne. It seemed that if her son could not have it, then none other should have it. Hear me as I hear the Lord: any bitter soul that has arisen to wipe out people around you for whatever stupid reasons, let the hand of the Lord arise and scatter their plans. Let the Lord arise and scatter the battles that have come to consume you.
Today, I pray for you: you will live above the wickedness of the wicked. You will not be counted amongst them that are affected by the wickedness of the Athaliah’s of this world. You will not fall. You will not die, but you will live to declare the works of the Lord in the land of the living. You will not suffer consequences you did not attract. You will not be a casualty. You will not have your light fade too soon in your journey.
Go and announce to the Athaliah’s of this world, that your head is not available to be taken from you. You will not be their casualty; you will not be their victim.
