WALK BY REVELATION

SCRIPTURE READING: MATTHEW 2: 1-12

FOCUS: “And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way.” (Matthew 2: 12)

MEMORY VERSE: “And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.” (Isaiah 30: 21)

Our Focal Scripture speaks of how the wise men were warned in a dream that they should not return to Herod. They had made enquiries from this same Herod; they had even been told to come back with feedback, but they got a warning from God in their dreams, and they did not return to Herod. The wisdom of men may have recommended that they go back to thank Herod, but divine revelation showed them something else.

Friend, as you gradually exit 2025 and enter into 2026, make a commitment to live by divine revelation. Go beyond your intellect and always ask God to reveal things to you, beyond what eyes can see. Go beyond human wisdom and ask to be shown what will enable you to defeat the ‘Herod’s of this world. Ask God to reveal the future to you. Ask God to reveal the next steps you ought to take, to you. Ask God to show you the way to go.

The wise men went to Herod and got information about how to meet Jesus, with a promise that they would come back with feedback to Herod. Unbeknownst to them, there was a sinister plan by Herod to kill Jesus, and only divine revelation would have taken them out of what would have been a trap. Divine revelation will save you from the traps of the enemy. Divine revelation will keep you safe where your wisdom should endanger you.

Wise men realize that they need more than mere human wisdom. Wise men realize that the wisdom of God exceeds the wisdom of men. Wise men realize that there is more than meets the eyes. Wise men realize that there is no art to discern hearts on the basis of facial looks. Wise men know that divine revelation should supersede mere human calculations. Wise men know that He that knows tomorrow is wiser than mere mortals.

Don’t live your life entirely based on human wisdom. Make room for divine revelation to guide your actions and choices. Make room for divine revelation.
