KEEP GROWING

SCRIPTURE READING: 2 KINGS 11: 1-17

FOCUS: “And the seventh year Jehoiada sent and fetched the rulers over hundreds, with the captains and the guard, and brought them to him into the house of the LORD, and made a covenant with them, and took an oath of them in the house of the LORD, and shewed them the king’s son.” (2 Kings 11: 4)

MEMORY VERSE: “That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;” (Colossians 1: 10)

It is instructive to observe that Joash was a baby at the time when Athaliah killed the entire seed royal. He was hid in the temple for six years. It was in the seventh year that he was brought forth to the people and made king. Joash was too young to wear the crown of King as a baby, and he was given more time to grow up and grow into the crown that was waiting for him. The crown was reserved no doubt, but he had to grow to wear it.

Friend, there are thrones that have been reserved for you; there are levels that El Roi has set aside for you; there are positions in destiny that God has put your name on; there are spaces that have been made for you in destiny; there are heights that heaven has ordained that you will attain; there are breakthroughs that will eventually come to you, sooner than later; but heaven is counting on you to grow so that you can wear the crown.

Athaliah was reigning already, but Joash was growing. Athaliah may have held on to the throne, but the king was growing. There may be Athaliah’s on the scene at the moment, but take the time to grow. Improve on yourself. Become a better version of yourself. Grow in your capacity. Grow enough to match the demands of the throne you desire. Grow above your current limitations. Grow in the matters of the spirit. Just grow; keep growing.

If you fail to grow, you may become an embarrassment to the God who made room for you at the top. If you fail to grow, even the world will not allow you to rule. If you fail to grow, you may be consumed by the battles that come to men on the throne. If you fail to grow, you may not last on your throne which God destined for you. If you fail to grow, even the priest may need to give you some time before the throne comes.

If you keep growing, the throne will eventually come your way. If you keep growing, even the Athaliah’s of this world will not be able to stop you.
