SCRIPTURE READING: 1 KINGS 19: 1-8, 18
FOCUS: “1. And Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and withal how he had slain all the prophets with the sword. 2. Then Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah, saying, So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them by to morrow about this time.” (1 Kings 19: 1-2)
MEMORY VERSE: “And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.” (Daniel 11: 32)
In our Focal Scripture, after Elijah had slain the prophets of Baal, Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah and threatened to slay him by the sword. Elijah did exploits for the Lord; he put an end to the conclave of Baal prophets and prophets of the grove in one swoop, but Jezebel was not willing to let him live after the success. Jezebel wanted to kill a man whose only crime was success. She wanted to kill a man who just succeeded.
The spirit of Jezebel is that spirit that comes to kill a man after he has done exploits. The spirit of Jezebel is that spirit that says that anyone who has done exploits, must die. The spirit of Jezebel is that spirit that says that everyone who has made a mark, must not live any longer. The spirit of Jezebel is that spirit that seeks to mix success with death. The spirit of Jezebel is that spirit that says, once a man has hit major targets, death is next.
Friend, hear me as I hear the Lord: powers of hell that say your exploits must be the end of your life, I decree, they will not prevail. It will never be said that you went down after doing great exploits. It will never be said that you succeeded, and then died. It will never be said that you made impact, but you were soon gone, too soon. It will never be said that your success was followed by death. Your success will never be mixed with death.
Elijah was in a moment of glory; his fame had spread after the encounter on Mount Carmel; and soon after, Jezebel came with the threat of death. Hear me as I hear the Lord: every Jezebel that says you will die when your name is being heard in the nations, let fire answer. Every Jezebel that says your good news will be followed by death, let fire answer. Every Jezebel that says you will die in your moment of glory, let fire answer.
You belong to that generation that moves from glory to glory, and from success to success. No power of hell will cut you short in your time of success. No power of darkness will swallow you in your glory season.
