SCRIPTURE READING: GENESIS 16: 1-15
FOCUS: “And she called the name of the LORD that spake unto her, Thou God seest me: for she said, Have I also here looked after him that seeth me?” (Genesis 16: 13)
MEMORY VERSE: “Asshur shall not save us; we will not ride upon horses: neither will we say any more to the work of our hands, Ye are our gods: for in thee the fatherless findeth mercy.” (Hosea 14: 3)
In our Focal Scripture, Hagar described God as the God who sees her. She was in the wilderness, caught in the midst of her own error which saw her leaving the home of Abraham; she was deserving of whatever wrong that was to befall her; she literally would be deemed undeserving of the mercies of God; but right there in the wilderness, the God who sees, saw Hagar. Hagar was seen by the God who sees even in the wilderness.
Friend, hear me as I hear the Lord: in 2026, your testimony will be that you have seen the God who sees you. The eyes of the Lord will see to clear the puzzles you are unable to resolve on your own. The eyes of the Lord will see with mercy even when you feel you deserve judgement. The eyes of the Lord will see to move you from the wilderness, to your rightful place in destiny. The eyes of the Lord will see you even when no one else does.
Notice that the eyes of the Lord saw a Hagar who had done wrong. The eyes of the Lord saw a slave who had offended her mistress and made her way into the wilderness. The eyes of the Lord saw someone who deserved every misfortune she walked herself into. In 2026, the eyes of the Lord will be fixed on you, not because you deserve it, but because He has loved you with an everlasting love. El Roi will see with mercy.
In 2026, never forget to call upon the name of the Lord. Never forget to call upon El Roi. When you do not have the right words to speak to God, just call Him El Roi. When you do not know what tomorrow holds, still call Him El Roi. When you are at a loss on how to navigate through your challenges, don’t forget to scream El Roi. Every battle that comes your way is a chance to call El Roi. Every difficulty, negative report, etc. is a chance for El Roi.
I pray for you: by the last day of 2026, may it be said that the mighty hand of El Roi was hugely made manifest in your life. May it be said that you have seen the God that sees you.
