SCRIPTURE READING: ACTS 12: 1-23
FOCUS: “And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.” (Acts 12: 6)
MEMORY VERSE: “Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.” (Ephesians 5: 14)
In our Focal Scripture, Peter was asleep between two soldiers, at a time when the church was praying for him. God had a plan for the release of Peter, but Peter was asleep in prison. He was unaware of what God was about to do. Someone for whom the church was praying for release, was sleeping in prison as if he was at home. His posture was contrary to what God was set to do. His sleeping posture contradicted what God was about to do.
Friend, it’s high time you woke up to the reality of God’s plan and will for your life. Wake up to the realization of what God is about to do. Wake up from every slumber that is limiting you from experiencing the fullness of God’s plan for you. Wake up and discern the new season that God is set to bring your way. Wake up and discern the new chapters that are about to unfold for you. Wake up from every destiny sleep.
At a time when heaven was plotting his release, Peter was still in a sleep posture. Peter was relaxed in prison when the mandate of heaven was for him to leave. Don’t make the mistake of adopting a posture that enforces your current season but contradicts your new season. Don’t make the mistake of living like one who has settled in the wilderness when there is still a journey to the Promised Land. Don’t sleep in a prison you are exiting.
Notice that Peter was not led out of prison while he still slept. He needed to wake up before he could leave the prison. Sometimes, your new season will not unfold until you have woken up. Sometimes, the new will not come until you wake up from the old. Sometimes, you will not transit into your next level until you are done sleeping and relaxing in the place of your old level. There is rising when you wake up; there is the new when you wake up.
The days of sleeping on your destiny, are over. Wake up to the plan of God. Stop sleeping in the same place where El Roi wants to take you out from.
