SCRIPTURE READING: 2 KINGS 11: 1-17
FOCUS: “But Jehosheba, the daughter of king Joram, sister of Ahaziah, took Joash the son of Ahaziah, and stole him from among the king’s sons which were slain; and they hid him, even him and his nurse, in the bedchamber from Athaliah, so that he was not slain.” (2 Kings 11: 2)
MEMORY VERSE: “And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.” (Luke 2: 52)
Our Focal Scripture speaks of how Jehosheba came to the rescue of Joash, by hiding him so that he would not be destroyed by Athaliah. Joash was still a baby at this time, and killing him would have been one of the easiest deals for Athaliah. Because he was still too young and too weak, he had to stay in hiding. Because he was yet to grow to the point of defending himself, he remained in hiding until his enthronement.
Friend, if you fail to grow, you just might need to accept your place in obscurity. If you fail to grow, you may never find your way to the limelight. If you fail to grow, you just might remain under the cover of those who know that you have not grown. If you fail to grow, you will have to put up with whatever placement you find yourself in. If you fail to grow, you might become a victim of those who have grown enough to decide your destiny.
Joash was too much of a baby to decide for himself, and Jehosheba decided on his behalf that hiding him for six years was a good plan. Because he was yet to grow, someone else decided how long his destiny should be in hiding. He had capacity to be king, but because he was yet to grow, someone else hid him for as long as she deemed fit. Your lack of growth will make you a victim of someone else decision and discretion.
Be intentional in your growth journey in 2026. Grow in wisdom, in stature and in favour with God and man. Grow in the knowledge of God. Grow in the manifestation of the gifts and calling on your life. Grow in your capacity to deliver the right results. Grow your skills. Grow your business and career. Grow your ministry. Grow your spiritual, emotional, physical and intellectual intelligence. Grow on all sides and all spheres of life.
To stop growing is to begin a journey of decline. To stop growing is to confine yourself to obscurity. In all your doings this year, keep growing.
