SCRIPTURE READING: PSALM 23: 1-6
FOCUS: “Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.” (Psalm 23: 5)
MEMORY VERSE: “The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” (Psalm 27: 1)
The psalmist in our Focal Scripture, speaks of how the Lord prepared a table before him in the presence of his enemies. By the affirmation of the psalmist, enemies were on ground before the table was prepared. The word ‘enemies’ speaks of the plurality of those against the psalmist. It was not just one enemy. Enemies were gathered against the psalmist, and all of a sudden, the Lord arose to prepare a table in their presence. So, the psalmist was really not alone. The Lord was with him.
Friend, you may be surrounded by enemies, but you are not alone. You may be surrounded by those who are plotting to finish you off, but they have no idea that you are not alone. There may be people who want to silence your destiny, but maybe they need to know that you really are not alone. There may be enemies positioning to eat you up, but they have no idea that you are not alone. The odds may be against you, but you are not alone. You are not defenseless as your enemies think.
The enemies may have imagined themselves to be on the same level with the psalmist, they may have thought themselves to have outnumbered the psalmist, but they had no idea that the one who outnumbers the entire universe was with the psalmist. There may be people who imagine that they have already outnumbered you, they may be imagining that they have you in a tight corner, but El Roi is present with you to defeat them all.
Live with the consciousness that you are not alone. Live with the consciousness that El Roi has His eyes on you. Live with the consciousness that you cannot be outnumbered by the enemies in this world. Live with the consciousness that the One who is with you is greater than all those against you. Live with the consciousness that El Roi is about to prepare tables for you right in the presence of the enemies that want you to go down.
Truly, you are not alone; you are not as vulnerable as enemies think; you are not as helpless as they imagine. Though they encamp against you, be confident in the fact that you are not alone.
