SCRIPTURE READING: MATTHEW 20: 1-16
FOCUS: “So when even was come, the lord of the vineyard saith unto his steward, Call the labourers, and give them their hire, beginning from the last unto the first.” (Matthew 20: 8)
MEMORY VERSE: “I will overturn, overturn, overturn, it: and it shall be no more, until he come whose right it is; and I will give it him.” (Ezekiel 21: 27)
In our Focal Scripture, the lord of the vineyard ordered his steward to pay all the labourers, beginning from the last set of labourers who were hired. So, the labourers who were hired in the eleventh hour, were going to be the first to be paid. The same people who seemed like the most disadvantaged lot were to be placed ahead of those that came before them. The labourers who came late, were to be treated as the favoured ones.
Friend, hear me as I hear the Lord: you may have started as the last, but God is about to turn the tables and make you the first. God is about to move you from the disadvantaged to the advantaged. God is about to move you from the ridiculed to the envied. God is moving you from the one who was abandoned to the one who has been mightily favoured by the Lord. God is moving you from the last to the first. God is turning the tables for you.
In the marketplace, everyone had left these eleventh hour hired servants behind. They were seen as the abandoned ones who had no attention. They were seen as those who were not favoured in the marketplace, but when it was time for reward, they were the first to be rewarded. Hear me as I hear the Lord: something you never imagined you would have, is about to come your way. You are about to be considered first.
Get set: when it is time for reward, you will be considered first. When it is time to choose people who will be favoured, you will be considered first. When it is time to make a beautiful story out of one’s life, you will be considered first. When it is time to make someone smile, you will be considered first. When it is time to consider those who will be first to testify, you will be considered first. Favour will put you ahead.
Don’t lose sleep if you are amongst those who seem late in destiny. The same God who is able to make the last to become first is about to turn the tide in your favour.
