SCRIPTURE READING: PSALM 23: 1-6

FOCUS: “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” (Psalm 23: 4)

MEMORY VERSE: “But thus saith the LORD, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children.” (Isaiah 49: 25)

In our Focal Scripture, the psalmist speaks of the rod and staff of the shepherd. In bible times, shepherds had both rods and staff. The idea of the rod was to scare and attack predators. Because of the weakness of sheep, there was a tendency that wild predators could come for it, and no true shepherd would allow his sheep to be taken. The shepherds would naturally strike the predators and shield the sheep. The rod was used against predators.

Friend, you serve a God who does not spare predators. If there be predators that have arisen against you, arise with your rod and strike them. Strike every satanic attack that has been launched against you. Strike every structure of hell that has been raised against you. Strike every messenger of darkness that is working against you. Strike every conspiracy and conspirators that have arisen against you. Strike every predator.

Any shepherd who was not willing to use his rod against predators was simply giving approval for his sheep to be taken. If you fail to arise in warfare against the predators that have come for your ‘sheep’, just maybe your sheep will be taken from you right before your very eyes. If you fail to attack the satanic uprising against you, you will become prey in the hands of the terrible. If you fail to strike your predators, they will eat your sheep.

You were not redeemed by Jesus so that you can watch the gates of hell advance into your territory without restraint. You were not redeemed so that you can stay safe while your sheep is taken away from you. You were redeemed so you can be a gate keeper. You were redeemed so that you can be that shepherd that will save the sheep. You were redeemed so that the gates of hell will suffer loss. You were redeemed to hit predators.

Welcome to that season where you must use your rod against the predators that have arisen against you. Welcome to that season where you will crush the works of the enemy.
