SCRIPTURE READING: JOHN 6: 1-14
FOCUS: “There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?” (John 6: 9)
MEMORY VERSE: “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.” (Revelations 4: 11)
It is important to observe that the miracle of feeding the multitude did not happen until the lad in our Focal Scripture released the bread and the fishes he had. While in his hands, they remained five loaves and two fishes; but the moment they got into the hands of Jesus, He gave thanks and gave to the disciples, and there was multiplication. The distinction of the bread came when he released what he had to the hands of the Master.
Friend, your bread and fish may not achieve anything until you release them to Jesus. What you have in your hands may perpetually remain small until you let Jesus have it. You may not attain significance until you move from having your loaves move from being kept for personal use, to being used to serve a generation. You may not rise above your current level of influence until God repositions your loaves and fish for a divine purpose.
There was an entire multitude waiting to be fed, but special mention was made about the lad who had what was needed to feed the multitude. What he released to the Lord became his access to significance and influence. What you release to Jesus to serve your generation will cause your name to be heard. What you do, not for yourself, but for your generation, will cause you to enter into new realms of influence and relevance.
Destiny will spot you out for divine announcement when you are able to release what you earlier kept for yourself, in order to serve your generation. Destiny will spot you out when you make your life to be not all about you, but all about the divine agenda you can serve while living. Destiny will amplify your name when you stop living for yourself and start living for the fulfillment of God’s plan.
Remember, the fishes and loaves remained insignificant until they were released to Jesus in order to feed the multitude. Your bread and fish can remain small in your hands, but you can release them to Jesus so they can be multiplied and serve a generation.
