SCRIPTURE READING: 1 KINGS 18: 40-46

FOCUS: “So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees,” (1 Kings 18: 42)

MEMORY VERSE: “And give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth.” (Isaiah 62: 7)

In our Focal Scripture, as Ahab went to eat and to drink, Elijah went to the top of Mount Carmel to pray before the rain that God promised eventually came. Notice that God Himself had declared that He was about to send rain, but Elijah did his own bit by praying before the rain eventually fell. Elijah did not only receive the word of the Lord; he prayed in line with the word of the Lord until it became the reality of Israel.

Friend, do not just receive the word of the Lord and stop there; pray with that word until it becomes your reality. Activate the fulfillment of the word of the Lord with your prayers. Set the stage for the fulfillment of God’s word concerning you by speaking the same words back to Him. Use the word of the Lord that you have heard to war a good warfare. Use your prayers to put pressure on heaven until God’s word is fulfilled.

The public manifestation that Elijah sought was preceded by private prayers. He set the stage for what heaven was about to do, with his private prayers. You may not witness the level and dimensions of public divine manifestations you seek until you set the stage with your private prayers. As you pass decrees in the open, do well to follow it up with prayers in the secret that will birth the answers you seek. Pray your prophecy into fulfillment.

When Elijah went to pray, he put his face where his knees were. The face is where the eyes, ears, mouth, brain, etc. are domiciled. So, his eyes, ears, mouth, brain, etc. stayed focused in the direction of his prayers. As you wait on the Lord, ensure that your vision is aligned with your prayers and expectations. Let your words align with your prayers. Let your ears hear only what is in line with the word of the Lord whose fulfillment you are expecting.

Don’t be counted amongst that generation that hears the word of the Lord and leaves it to chance. Even when the Lord has spoken, use the word to war a good warfare until it is fulfilled.
