SCRIPTURE READING: MATTHEW 2: 1-18

FOCUS: “Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.” (Matthew 2: 2)

MEMORY VERSE: “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:” (1 Peter 2: 9)

In our Focal Scripture, the wise men came to Jerusalem in search of the new King that had been born. Jerusalem was the city of kings. It was the place where kings were expected to be born. It was the environment where kings were expected to dwell in. Notice that when they came to Jerusalem, Jesus was not there. He was not sitting by a throne. He did not have a visible crown attached to him. He was a king but in a manger.

Friend, it is important that you discern that there are kings who are emerging, yet without a name, or a throne or a crown. God is raising people who may not yet appear in the similitude of the kings you already know. God is raising men who are already loaded with greatness but may not appear great. God has raised major arrow heads of His end time agenda, and they may not seem like the greatness they bear within them.

Don’t make the mistake of looking only to thrones before you discern the kings that God has raised. There are kings that are yet in the manger. There are kings that are yet uncelebrated. There are kings that do not look like kings yet. There are kings that do not fit into men’s assessment of what a king should be. There are great men rising, and your eyes need to be open to see and discern that these ones are not normal like everyone.

Notice that Jesus was not just a king because of the thrones or crowns. He was a king by heaven’s design. Align yourself with heaven’s design. Align yourself with the content that heaven has to offer. Stop chasing for thrones and start chasing for the word of the Lord that makes a man relevant in his generation. Stop chasing for mere human crowns and start seeking to be that man upon whom heaven will vest her interest on earth.

Greatness does not begin and end with thrones and crowns. There is emerging greatness. Kings without names and paraphernalia are rising, and you had better be one of them.
