SCRIPTURE READING: JOHN 6: 1-14
FOCUS: “There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?” (John 6: 9)
MEMORY VERSE: “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” (1 Corinthians 2: 14)
In our Focal Scripture, Andrew made mention of the lad who had five loaves and two fishes. Jesus already knew what to do about feeding the multitude, and He eventually used the five loaves and two fishes to make the miracle happen. So, Andrew’s suggestion was in line with divine agenda. Afterwards, Andrew questioned how the loaves and fishes could make a difference amongst the multitude. His thoughts went against divine agenda.
Friend, I pray for you: may the way you feel not take you out of divine agenda. May your senses not cause you to say things that will disconnect you from the plan of God for your life. May you not speak words that will counter what the plan of God is for your life. May the eyes of your understanding be enlightened to discern the plan of God when you see it, without speaking against it. May God help you align with His will for your life.
In one swoop, Andrew went from understanding what God wanted to do, to saying that it would not be enough for the multitude. He went from speaking right in line with the plan of God, to speaking like one who did not realize that the Jesus who could turn water into wine could also turn five loaves and two fishes into a meal for a multitude. May it never be said that you began by speaking right and ended up speaking wrongly.
I pray for you: may you see what God is seeing; may you say what God is saying; may you perceive things in the Spirit. May your eyes be open to see what others are yet to see. May you be first to discern the direction of the plan of God. May you not disconnect from the plan of God with your own words. May you not fall into the mistake of speaking words that will undermine the will of God. May your words not put God away from you.
When things do not make sense to you, remember that you serve a God who is able to do more than your senses can fathom. Your results are by the word of the Lord, not by senses.
