SCRIPTURE READING: LUKE 15: 11-32

FOCUS: “And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living.” (Luke 15: 13)

MEMORY VERSE: “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.” (Psalm 1: 1)

Our Focal Scripture makes mention of how the prodigal son wasted his substance with riotous living. He led a riotous life and his destiny went down the drains. He indulged in reckless living and it took him down the drains. He indulged in wild living. He did whatever he wanted. He chose a pathway that allowed him to live without restrictions and without control. His recklessness became his albatross. His recklessness took him down.

Friend, another mistake you would make, is to indulge in reckless living. Like the prodigal son, you would be looking for destiny destruction if you choose a reckless life. You would be choosing destiny extinction if you choose to live your life without any restrictions whatsoever. You would be making a choice for destiny limitation if you choose to live without boundaries. You would be making a mistake if you live riotously.

Make no mistakes about it: riotous living has got its consequences, one of which is the idea of reducing a man from being a son to being a slave. Riotous living reduces great men to mere chaff. Riotous living makes great destinies to go down the drains. Riotous living reduces great destinies to mere tools in the hands of the enemy. Riotous living will take a man from great heights and dump him in great depths and valleys.

Resist the temptation to lead a life that is without restrictions. Resist the urge to live without calling yourself to order regularly. Resist the urge to grow wild. Resist the urge to allow everything, both good and bad, to creep in on you and gain control over you. Resist the urge to live like the children of the world. Resist the urge to live like one who is oblivious of the consequences of actions.

Every suggestion to live riotously is a suggestion to allow your life go down the drains. In all your choosing, never choose riotous living.
