SCRIPTURE READING: MATTHEW 20: 1-16

FOCUS: “And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the marketplace,” (Matthew 20: 3)

MEMORY VERSE: “The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute.” (Proverbs 12: 24)

Our Focal Scripture speaks of how the householder went out about the third hour and saw other labourers standing idle in the marketplace. Ordinarily, the marketplace is a busy place. The marketplace is a place of exchange of value and money ultimately. In a place where others would arrive and earn a living, these labourers were yet idle. In a place where others had received offers, they had nothing to do. They were idle with no work.

Friend, I pray for you: it will never be said that you were idle in the marketplace. It will never be said that you were in a place where others are earning their living and you have nothing to do. It will never be said that you came to the land of activities and had nothing to do. It will never be said that you came to a place where people were making giant strides, and you had nothing to do. You will not be idle in the marketplace.

Notice that this was just the third hour of the day; it was that time of the day when people who ought to be busy should have become busy, but these men were still idle. They were idle at a time when they were full of strength and vigor to engage in honest labour and produce results. Hear me as I hear the Lord: it will never be said that at a time when you should be gaining results, you had nothing to do. You will not be idle at your peak.

I pray for you: you will never be idle in the marketplace. You will have more to do than you have time. You will be productive. Your hands will be filled with results. As you go forth, your hands will find what to do. You will be an example of high-level productivity in the marketplace. You will be the envy of many who see you in the marketplace. People will desire to be like you when they see your results and engagement in the marketplace.

Welcome to that season where you must never be idle in the marketplace. Welcome to that season where the Lord will give you grace for productivity in the marketplace.
