SCRIPTURE READING: MATTHEW 20: 1-16
FOCUS: “For the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard.” (Matthew 20: 1)
MEMORY VERSE: “Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:” (Proverbs 24: 33)
Our Focal Scripture speaks of how the householder went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard. The people who were to be hired by the householder, were labourers. The description of those who were to be given an opportunity to serve, were labourers. The people who were needed in the place of productivity, were labourers. The people who were to be invited into the realm of results, were labourers.
Friend, in all your becoming, dare to become a labourer. Learn the art of rolling up your sleeves and getting the work done. Learn the art of looking beyond your convenience and doing the hardwork. Learn the art of ignoring the laziness of your body and mind, and push for the results that will distinguish you. Learn the art of pushing and stretching your capacity in order to gain results. Learn the art of honest, decent labour.
The opportunity that came through the householder, in the householder’s vineyard, was reserved for those who were willing to labour from the early hours of the morning. It was not a vacancy for the lazy. If you are gradually building a culture of laziness and procrastination, you just might be disqualifying yourself from the opportunities that should ordinarily distinguish you. Greatness is for men who can work hard and smart.
If you are in that place where your body is unwilling to do the hardwork, now is the time to change. Rise from your sleep before you slip into mediocrity and insignificance. Rise from your slumber and break out of every lazy behavior that the enemy wants to use and keep you at the same spot. Rise to the occasion and use the capacity that heaven has put in you. Rise to the occasion and make the efforts that will make all the difference.
Welcome to that season where you must roll up your sleeves and be a labourer that will be worthy of results. Put away slumber and get ready to work.
