SCRIPTURE READING: 1 KINGS 18: 40-46

FOCUS: “And said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said, There is nothing. And he said, Go again seven times.” (1 Kings 18: 43)

MEMORY VERSE: “Pray without ceasing.” (1 Thessalonians 5: 17)

Our Focal Scripture speaks of that moment when the servant of Elijah went to check the clouds, to see if the rain was about to fall. The servant checked and his feedback to Elijah was, “There is nothing”. Elijah had prayed for some time, but there was no result showing from his prayers at that moment. He had prayed for a result, but the result wasn’t immediately forthcoming. He prayed, but the servant said “there is nothing”.

Friend, there will be times when you will pray but your ‘servant’ will return to say that “there is nothing”. As you pray, there will be times when it seems you are wasting your time, because you would see nothing suggesting that heaven has even heard your prayers. There will be times when your prayers, though spirited and vehement, would seem like you wasted your time. There will be times when you pray, but see nothing.

Elijah did not cease to pray because his servant saw nothing. He prayed until the servant eventually saw something. He prayed until results came forth. When it seems that you have prayed but have seen nothing, pray again. Keep praying, and don’t stop praying. Keep praying even when your answers don’t seem forthcoming. Keep praying even when your results mock your prayers. Keep praying even if reports say that there is nothing.

The servant eventually went to check a few more times, and there was something. He checked again, and there was visible evidence of the prayers of Elijah. If you keep praying, you will see the evidence of your prayers manifest in a matter of time. If you keep praying, your prophecy will become reality. If you keep praying, heaven will show you a token for good. If you keep praying, God will silence your naysayers with uncommon results.

Don’t allow the results you are yet to see to stop you from praying. Don’t reduce your prayers because you are seeing nothing.
