SCRIPTURE READING: JUDGES 16: 1-31

FOCUS: “And the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and said unto her, Entice him, and see wherein his great strength lieth, and by what means we may prevail against him, that we may bind him to afflict him: and we will give thee every one of us eleven hundred pieces of silver.” (Judges 16: 5)

MEMORY VERSE: “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.” (Ephesians 6: 10)

When the lords of the Philistines came to Delilah, their target was to get to the root of the strength of Samson. They couldn’t fight or defeat Samson, and they sought to undermine his strength. They sought to undermine the source of his greatness. They sought to uproot his strength. They wanted to prevail against him by attacking the root of his strength. They wanted to bring an end to his destiny by destroying his power base.

Friend, until today, the strategy of the enemy is to weaken your power base. The strategy of the enemy is to undermine your strength. The strategy of the enemy is to deplete your strength. The strategy of the enemy is to make you to lose strength and become as ordinary as any other man. The strategy of the enemy is to make you operate without power. The strategy of the enemy is to make you operate at levels you do not have power for.

The power base of the New Testament believer comes from the place of prayer and a walk with God. If the enemy is making you grow cold in the place of prayer, he is seeking to undermine your power base. If the enemy is making you less sensitive to issues you should pray about, he is weakening your power base. Every distraction from your walk with God is a disconnection from your power base. To be prayerless is to be powerless.

Even in the midst of error, Samson was still untouchable to the Philistines when his power base remained beyond their reach. They couldn’t bring him down when they could not touch his power base. You cannot be effectively undermined if your power base remains untouchable. You cannot be undermined if your prayer life remains very intact. You cannot be undermined if your prayer connection to God remains intact.

Welcome to that season where you must heighten your power base. Welcome to that season where you must walk in power.
