SCRIPTURE READING: 2 KINGS 9: 1-13
FOCUS: “And Elisha the prophet called one of the children of the prophets, and said unto him, Gird up thy loins, and take this box of oil in thine hand, and go to Ramothgilead:” (2 Kings 9: 1)
MEMORY VERSE: “Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.” (John 15: 2)
In our Focal Scripture, Elisha instructed the son of the prophet who was to go and anoint Jehu as king, to gird up his loins. In bible times, men wore flowing garments, and girding up one’s loins involved tucking in one’s flowing garments into a girdle worn on the waist. The idea was to make room for fast paced movements. There needed to be a tucking in, so that speed could increase. There was a tucking in, to bring urgency.
Friend, you may not be able to move as fast as God would have you move, if you fail to tuck in your ‘flowing garments’. You may not be able to achieve what God wants you to achieve if you do not intentionally tuck in your flowing garments and make room for fast movement. Tucking in your garments means to put away whatever could get in the way of your speed. If you seek to move with speed, then some things must be tucked in.
If there are relationships that slowed you down in time past, it is now time to tuck them in. If there are connections and activities that slow down your pace in destiny, you just might need to tuck them in. If there are circles that make you lose pace in destiny, you just might need to exit yourself. If there are people who make it difficult for you to move as you should in destiny, you just might need to walk away before they weaken you.
If you choose your flowing garment over and above the need for speed in destiny, you might realize at some point that you have been left behind. If you fail to tuck in what needs to be tucked in, you might end up missing the mark. If you fail to tuck in your flowing garments, you may end up enjoying all the pleasure but never hitting the targets that heaven wants you to hit. If you fail to tuck in your garments, you will be the loser.
Welcome to that season where your garments must be tucked in so that you can move forward in destiny. Welcome to the season where you must prioritize speed over and above pleasure.
