SCRIPTURE READING: JUDGES 16: 1-31
FOCUS: “And it came to pass, when she pressed him daily with her words, and urged him, so that his soul was vexed unto death;” (Judges 16: 16)
MEMORY VERSE: “Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped.” (Psalm 124: 7)
Our Focal Scripture speaks of how Delilah continued to disturb Samson day after day in a bid to get to the root of his strength. Samson got tired at some point and gave in. Notice that the goal was to put him in chains and in bondage. The goal was to make him become like any other man. The goal of Delilah was to sell him to the lords of the Philistines. She made several attempts to nail Samson, yet Samson remained connected to her.
Friend, there will be times when God would literally give you a chance to see where some connections you currently have will take you to. Do well to cut off from Delilah before she achieves her mission. Do well to disconnect from the messengers of your downfall before you finally fall. Do well to disconnect from those who are trying to disconnect you from God. Do well to cut short your journey with those who seek your end.
Severally, Delilah sought to know the source of Samson’s strength, and each time she was told what it could be, she made moves to hand him over to the bondage of the Philistines. How could Samson not read the handwriting on the wall? How could Samson not notice that there was a plot for his downfall? How could he be so blinded by lust that he was walking into his death with his two eyes wide open? Just how?
Did you notice that eventually, when Samson was finally sold into the hands of the Philistines, nothing more was heard about Delilah? Her mission was accomplished the moment Samson lost his strength. The Delilah’s of this world do not really love you like that; they are only in love with your downfall, and it is best that you walk away before they hit their target. Don’t wait for your head to be cut off before you cut off from Delilah.
Don’t remain in traps that God has warned you against. While you still have life in you, arise and walk away from the trap of your Delilah. Don’t remain stuck in the rot until your life rots away.
