SCRIPTURE READING: 2 KINGS 9: 1-13

FOCUS: “And Elisha the prophet called one of the children of the prophets, and said unto him, Gird up thy loins, and take this box of oil in thine hand, and go to Ramothgilead:” (2 Kings 9: 1)

MEMORY VERSE: “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.” (2 Corinthians 4: 7)

In our Focal Scripture, one of the sons of the prophets was mandated by Elisha to take a box of oil and proceed to Ramothgilead to anoint Jehu. That son of the prophet was to gird up his loins, which implied that he was about to make a fast-paced movement. Notice that he was to run to Ramothgilead with a box of oil. He was to move fast without losing the oil he needed; but he was not going to move slowly because he had oil.

Friend, as you navigate through 2025, you need to find the balance between moving with speed and protecting the oil you bear in your vessel. You need to be able to run with speed, without losing the essence of your speed. You need to be able to move swiftly without losing the treasures that heaven put in your hands. You need to be able to move speedily without losing focus on the oil you bear in your vessel. You need speed and safety.

It was important for the son of the prophet to arrive at Ramothgilead where Jehu was. It was also important for him to arrive with the fullness of the oil he carried in his box of oil. As you journey through the year, pay attention to your destination, but also be intentional to pay attention to the value you ought to carry to your destination. Arriving at your destination without the oil and capacity you ought to bring is a waste of efforts.

Any man who must move fast and arrive with the box of oil, must remain focused. Imagine that the son of the prophet eventually moved slowly till he got to Ramothgilead; maybe he wouldn’t find Jehu available for the anointing as king. The mere fact that you bear oil in your vessel is no excuse to be slow in destiny. The fact that you have chosen to increase your pace is also no excuse to lose focus and pour away your oil.

It is your season to move fast, without losing the oil in your vessel. Bear your vessel with care; don’t lose your oil.
