SCRIPTURE READING: LUKE 15: 11-32

FOCUS: “And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want.” (Luke 15: 14)

MEMORY VERSE: “Yea, the stork in the heaven knoweth her appointed times; and the turtle and the crane and the swallow observe the time of their coming; but my people know not the judgment of the LORD.” (Jeremiah 8: 7)

When the prodigal son got his portion of goods from his father, he went into a far country and squandered all he had on riotous living. After he had spent all, a famine arose and he was in want. A new season arose, but the mistakes of his old season kept him in the place of a victim. What he did with his old season made him vulnerable in his new season. The errors of his past season became his undoing in his new season.

Friend, did you know that the errors of your current season may return to haunt you in your next season? Did you know that the things you don’t do right in your current season may backfire in your next season? Did you know that the wasted opportunities of your old season could be your undoing in your new season? Did you know that whatever you do not get right in your current season could hinder your next season?

The prodigal son had no idea that famine was by the corner, and when it came, he had blown all the money he had with him. His actions were not compatible with his new season, and he suffered for it. Always discern your next season and be intentional to take actions that will not embarrass you in the future. Be intentional to walk the path that will still be relevant when your new season appears.

If God were to open your eyes to see what your new season holds for you, would you still continue in the same path you are in? Would you keep living the way you are currently living if your eyes were opened to see your tomorrow? Would you continue to walk the path of negativity if God were to open your eyes to see what you are losing already because of your wrong choices? Would you keep ‘spending’ if you knew that ‘famine’ was next?

Don’t be counted amongst them that take steps that would backfire in their next season. Don’t be counted amongst them that use their current season to wreak the next season.
