SCRIPTURE READING: 2 KINGS 9: 1-13
FOCUS: “And thou shalt smite the house of Ahab thy master, that I may avenge the blood of my servants the prophets, and the blood of all the servants of the LORD, at the hand of Jezebel.” (2 Kings 9: 7)
MEMORY VERSE: “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.” (Ecclesiastes 9: 10)
When the son of the prophet anointed Jehu as King of Israel, he followed up immediately and unveiled heaven’s agenda for making Jehu emerge as King. Jehu was to smite the house of Ahab. He was not made king so that he can stop fighting battles. He was instructed on the battle he was to fight as he ascended the throne. There was an assignment waiting for Jehu on his new level. There was an assignment tied to his new level.
Friend, as God brings you to your new season, discern the assignment He had in mind for bringing you there. Discern the assignment that heaven had for raising you. Discern the assignment that heaven had for allowing you to gain access to your high places. Discern the assignment that caused heaven to open new doors for you. Discern the assignment for your next level when you eventually arrive there. Discern your assignment.
It is an error for God to raise you and you fail to discover what He had in mind for raising you. It is an error to come to your wealthy place and be distracted from fulfilling the very assignment that made God to bring you there. It is an error to celebrate the throne without discerning why God brought you there. Any man who ascends the throne without a hint of heaven’s agenda for the throne, will soon be cast down from the throne.
The assignment that was given to Jehu at the point of being anointed as King of Israel, was for the purpose of exacting vengeance against the house of Ahab. There was something he needed to accomplish on God’s behalf as he rose to the throne. Whenever God causes you to rise, always discern His agenda for your rising. God always has something to gain from your rising, if you are sensitive enough to discern what He stands to gain.
Don’t be an unwise king that rises but forgets why God caused him to rise. Don’t be counted amongst them that cannot discern heaven’s agenda for their rising.
