SCRIPTURE READING: JUDGES 16: 1-31

FOCUS:And the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and said unto her, Entice him, and see wherein his great strength lieth, and by what means we may prevail against him, that we may bind him to afflict him: and we will give thee every one of us eleven hundred pieces of silver.(Judges 16: 5)

MEMORY VERSE: “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:” (1 Peter 5: 8)

Our Focal Scripture speaks of how the Lords of the Philistines came with money in their hands in a bid to buy into Samson’s downfall. While Samson was on his journey of error with Delilah, he had no idea that there were Lords of the Philistines bankrolling Delilah. He had no idea that there were men behind the scenes energizing the negativity that came through Delilah. He had no idea that that were men behind the smiling face of Delilah.

Friend, be discerning to know when the Lords of the Philistines are behind the smiling faces around you. Be discerning to know when the niceties you see around you are baits dropped by your enemies for your downfall. Be discerning to know when there are hidden evil motives behind the favours coming to you. Be discerning to know when you are walking into a trap with those who are behind the scenes around you.

The lords of the Philistines asked Delilah to entice Samson, to see the source of his strength, that they may extinguish him. So, everything Delilah did, including seeming in love with Samson, was enticement. Samson was being deceived into his own downfall. Be discerning to know when you are being enticed into your own downfall. Be discerning to know when those who seek to destroy you come with smiling faces and sweet words.

Samson would not have fallen into their trap if they came in their own name; he only got trapped because they hid behind the pretty face of Delilah. May the Lord open your eyes to see the hidden forces working behind the scenes to bring you down. May God open your eyes to see the true sponsors of the traps that are being set for you. May God show you the faces behind the inviting traps that are being set for you.

In all your getting, get more discernment. Don’t be content to walk through life without discernment. Don’t be misled by the smiling faces sugarcoating the traps the enemy set for you.
