SCRIPTURE READING: ACTS 16: 16-39

FOCUS: “And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed.” (Acts 16: 26)

MEMORY VERSE: “Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children.” (Isaiah 66: 8)

It is instructive to observe that as Paul and Silas prayed and sang praises to God while in prison, heaven responded with an earthquake that shook the foundation of the prison and unlocked all the doors and chains. It was not only the doors that held Paul and Silas that were unlocked; every door was opened. It was not only the chains of Paul and Silas that were unlocked; all prisoners had their chains broken. The prayers of Paul and Silas became the deliverance of the entire prisoners.

Friend, you are that man whose prayers must become the deliverance of your entire generation. You are that man whose access to heaven must become the liberation of those connected to you. You are that man whose prayers must birth the turnaround of your entire generation. You are that man whose devotion to God must become the platform for the salvation of others. You are that man who must become heaven’s conduit to liberate men. You are called to pray others into freedom.

Notice that the other prisoners merely heard Paul and Silas as they prayed and sang. There was no record that any prisoner bothered to join them to pray and to sing. There are times when you must continue to ‘pray’ and ‘sing’ even when people around you are not willing to join you. There are times when you must choose to do the right even when those connected to you are not interested. Keep travailing even if others don’t care.

When heaven’s intervention came, both those who prayed and those who did not pray were beneficiaries. As you pray and seek the face of God, and as you grow in intimacy with God, people you may consider undeserving will become beneficiaries of the prayers and prophetic declarations you have made, and you need to be okay with that. Be content to be the one to pray while others reap from your prayers.

You belong to that generation that births answers for others to enjoy. You belong to that generation that attracts heaven’s intervention to their generation.
