SCRIPTURE READING: JOHN 6: 1-14
FOCUS: “There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?” (John 6: 9)
MEMORY VERSE: “The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute.” (Proverbs 12: 24)
When Jesus saw the multitude that came to Him, He asked Philip where they could buy bread. Jesus did not ask for fish. Notice that in our Focal Scripture, He was told about that lad who had bread and fishes, and He blessed and multiplied all. He needed bread for the multitude, but when the lad was seen, he had more than just bread. He had more than what was sought for; he had something in addition to what Jesus was asking for.
Friend, when it is time to give bread, also give your fish. When it is time to deliver, be intentional to deliver on a higher level. Be intentional to deliver more than your generation needs. Be intentional to give more results than your generation asks for. Be intentional to do more than your market place seeks. Be a carrier of value that has more than what is needed. Be that carrier of value that is able to give more and do more.
As opportunities come your way, be intentional to deliver more than expected. Let your delivery be outstanding and remarkable. Let your delivery be more than what is demanded from you. Grow your capacity beyond the needs of those around you. Grow your capacity to be able to deliver more per time. Grow your capacity to deliver on higher levels. Grow your capacity to bring that extra quality that others may not offer.
There is a generation asking for bread but perhaps secretly hoping that you can also give fish. There is a generation that wants more from you than they are really saying to you. Unknown to you, the market place is seeking more from you; your employer is seeking more from you; your environment is seeking more from you; your business is seeking more from you; your clients are seeking more from you; your generation wants more.
If your bread is asked for, by all means, also show up with your fish. When your capacity is called for on a particular level, by all means, deliver on a higher level.
