SCRIPTURE READING: JOHN 6: 1-14
FOCUS: “6. …for he himself knew what he would do. 7. Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little. 8. … Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, saith unto him, 9. There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?” (John 6: 6-9)
MEMORY VERSE: “9. But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 10. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.” (1 Corinthians 2: 9-10)
In our Focal Scripture, Jesus asked Philip about where they could buy bread. Jesus already knew what to do, and only sought to prove His disciple. Philip declared that two hundred penny-worth of bread would not be enough for the multitude. Andrew also responded, saying that there was a lad with five loaves and two fishes. In the end, Jesus worked with the five loaves and two fishes. It was His plan, and Andrew seemed to have insight into it.
Friend, one of the best things you could ever achieve is to have insight into the plan of God. It is important that you gain insight into what God is about to do. Align your thoughts with the agenda of God. Say what God is saying. Speak the word of the Lord. Align your desires and expectations to be in line with what God is set to do in and around you. Let your confessions be in alignment with what God is about to make happen.
Jesus knew what to do, but Philip had no idea about it and was focused on calculating. Andrew had some insight into what Jesus was about to do, though he also wondered how the five loaves and two fish could be enough for so many people. Sometimes, your insight into the plan of God for your life will seem to clash with the rationality of your mind, but press on regardless. What God is saying may not make sense to you, but believe it.
Jesus knew what to do, but not all His disciples were aligned to what He intended to do. Be intentional to go beyond seeking to see God at work, to desiring to know and be in alignment to whatever His plans are. Seek to know what the will of the Lord is. Seek to know what God is saying. Seek to know what the Lord is about to make happen. Seek to know the pathway of your increase. Seek to know what to do, in alignment with God.
I pray for you: may it never be said that you were out of alignment with the plan of God. May it never be said that heaven had a plan but you had absolutely no idea. May you not speak against the express plan of God.
